Read Genesis 12:1–9
When God calls, He calls us to leave something behind in order to go where He leads. Abram had to leave all that he was familiar with—his roots, his people, everything and everyone he knew—and get up. God told him to go, and the text simply says, “Abraham went as the Lord told him.” Throughout Scripture, God’s call always involves a leaving so that there can be a going.
